Company's Bio (Pitch Deck): I’ve been interested in the cannabis movement and industry since I started college in 2012. While in school, I first experienced the power of cannabis. I suffer from ADD and ADHD and noticed that I could focus better after using it. I felt I was able to concentrate better on different types of tasks and organize my thoughts better. I also saw better results when playing sports and exercising after using it. After doing research, I noticed I wasn’t the only one feeling this kind of enhanced productivity after using certain cannabis strains. This intrigued me even more.
During my time in school, I’d brainstorm ideas and think of ways to enter the industry, but they were mostly the traditional ways of entering the industry such as opening up a dispensary or growing cannabis. These options required significant capital and were very risky due to government regulations constantly changing.
One day, I was Skyping a close friend in Japan and we were reviewing existing companies in the industry and something clicked. I realized there were other ways to enter the industry without even touching the plant. As Mark Twain said, “During the gold rush it’s a good time to be in the pick and shovel business.”
After this enlightening experience, we wholeheartedly believed we could create something better than what was currently out there. To understand the cannabis community more, we started by creating a cannabis Facebook page, called WikiWeed. It reached over 100k followers organically in a short time period. Unfortunately, it was hacked, and we lost the account. However, this seemingly bad experience led to the creation of, Kannabi. We were starting from scratch but applied the ideas and unique strategies from WikiWeed that worked well.
Living in Asia for ten years prior to college exposed me to many cultures and unique experiences. I saw that cannabis was taking off in many different parts of the world, not just countries like the U.S. and Canada. Countries such as China, Israel, etc. were also becoming players in the industry as well.
We wanted the goal of any venture we started in this industry to capture cannabis through an international lens. Currently, Kannabi is still going strong and we have new and interesting plans for our website, content, and social media strategy. Our goal is to eventually offer users and enthusiasts a one-stop-shop for everything cannabis. We are getting closer to our goals each day and excited to be a part of this fascinating and innovative industry.
C-Suite Bio's (Pitch Deck): Garrett Olano (CEO & founder) lived in Asia for a total of 10 years. Graduated from Florida State University with both a degree in Political Science & International Affairs. Additionally, he has a minor in Commercial Entrepreneurship from the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship.
Stephen Olano (COO) has lived off and on in Asia for over 15 years. He graduated from the University of Florida majoring in both Finance and Chinese. He's fluent in Chinese helps companies with their global logistics.
Growth Plan (Pitch Deck): We have bootstrapped since our conception, forcing us to focus on effective and low-cost brand building. Focusing on Facebook’s platform to reach a large audience and target cannabis demographics. We are scaling and focusing on a variety of other platforms to build brand awareness. Furthermore, we have new and interesting plans for our website, content, and social media strategy.
