Called Boiling Point which is the temperature at which medicines would melt. People are understanding what happens with a vaporizer but the simple magic is the small little things get warm and things get warm enough that they melt into a paper and you can breathe off the vapor and extract the medicine without having to burn it to get there. It's a much cleaner way of digesting the medicine.

Dan Humiston:
It's the MJBulls podcast a show about Raising Cannabis Capital.

Dan Humiston:
I'm Dan Humiston. And on today's show how this American entrepreneur uses years of experience doing business in Asia to create a vaporizer for the true cannabis .

Dan Humiston:
Today the Raising Cannabis Capital series we are joined by Court Smith CEO of DaVinci vaporizers Corp.. Welcome to the MJBulls podcast.

Cort Smith:
Thank you Dan.

Dan Humiston:
Having a good day I'm having a great day. I'm having a great day. Thanks for asking. Skied a little bit this morning and yeah everything's good. Let's talk about you. So I don't want to put a lot of pressure on you but in 2014 you were crowned tax most interesting man in the world. Yeah those are some big shoes. Those are some days there some really big shoes. Anyway just reading through your bio. OK. For our listeners here we go. You're fluent Mandarin. You started Bungee International which designs towers for bungee jumping. That's the largest bungee company in the world. What do you mean if that's not enough. Then you start this Asian pro sports which exports it like over 600 products all over the world. And now we're going to talk to you today about da Vinci vaporizers which is one of the most advanced vaporizing companies in cannabis.

Dan Humiston:
First off congratulations on your success and congratulations and being techs most interesting thing in the world.

Cort Smith:
It does all kind of leap together the best thing that's you know a bit of a thrill seeker obligates my younger years wanted to mix a business that was fun. So I got into the bungee jumping back in August 91 over in Asia I was wasn't much to do with appetite gambling and drinking and outdoor sports market was more my interest as I was doing the bungee jump. I got approached by the guys that hey we're going to build that Disneyland in China and we want to put on these bungee jumping things in China. Can you do it. Well sure raise my hand. Absolutely. Know what we're going to do 90 flights there and design and build China's first bungee tower just celebrating the opening day and rally with 100 couples to get married under the bungee tower.

Cort Smith:
So not doing this jump down in a big countdown thing and bungee landed in China. And I knew that China with its population and growth was going to be a huge market. But I think I was easily 10 years in front of myself. China wasn't ready for bungee jumping it was too scary. We were in momentum and it was happening and so it began kind of while introducing the bungee to China. We got involved with the whole extremist movement and produced China's first X Games and really brought the whole drill force mentality to the Chinese people and I thought it was interesting to develop what I earned my degree of manufacturing was building me bungee towers which is big stuff. This is the outside the Golden Gate Bridge you know 300 feet tall elevators up up the top revolving restaurants the whole you know entertain a whole Chinese crowd on a huge metal structure idea. But working away from bungee towers into an assortment of other products and I was learning different industries and different words in Chinese I just thought that that degree and a learning how to build things out a contract and negotiate the Chinese factories to be an artisan of my own ways to build things there. When DaVinci kind of came laughter I live in Vegas right. Right which would trade show and said wow you know I'm a cannabis user. I'd love to have a pocket friendly vaporizer. That would be good and not be so conspicuous on the market the time of the best seller being looked at with a few clean burning it was the only thing pocket sized that could be on the go but it burned butane was open flame. But that's ridiculous. I'm a skier I want to be up in the mountains. I want to be a motorcycle and I don't want a lot of the routine something going on so I started scratching out something that is small and battery powered that could fit in your pocket and be rugged and really put my kind of sauce keys in my experience skills and to develop in a very advanced smoking apparatus that that became that potential.

Dan Humiston:
I mean it's just crazy goes from bungee jump fitted to vaporizers but I can see now how the dots are connected. Tell us what makes DaVinci unique.

Cort Smith:
The unique part of DaVinci is our flavor. I have a good command of material science looking at things that they're going to get hot and make smoke while there is good and bad ways to do that. When I'm at forums and look at all the problems that existing issues were part of a fair process. Try the window glass on glass. It's good as the basics of stoner back you know people know hey Glass is the best way to experience cannabis and want to build a pocket sized up and built with glass that would do the job really really good. That was sort of the design Commander thing. We want to build this pocket vaporizer that would deliver it with a glass on glass taste. We start learning about chirpy and something called Boiling Point which is the temperature at which medicines would melt. Give a lot of interesting and we get what happens with a vaporizer. But the simple magic is like a small little oven. Things get warm and things get warm enough that they melt into a paper and you can breathe off a vapor and extract the medicine without having to burn it to get there.

Cort Smith:
Ok. Was it a much cleaner way of digesting the medicine.

Dan Humiston:
Yeah it's the first time anybody's explained it to me. At all but I think it's funny as many times as I've seen vaporizers I've never had any explain it and concisely as that but that makes a lot of sense.

Dan Humiston:
I want to take a minute to remind all of our listeners about a new podcast produced by MJBulls Media Hemp Barons is a weekly show about the company's products and entrepreneurs who are using this amazing plant to create and improve the products we use every day. You can listen to Hemp Barons every Tuesday on Apple iTunes Stitcher Spotify wherever you get your podcasts from.

Dan Humiston:
All right so DaVinci what's the growth plan for the next two years.

Cort Smith:
Well you know what we found was our competitive advantage is that it's our ability to navigate and get things built in China in the electronics world. That's the hotbed center in China is where all this technology is being developed in the latest Pirates of malls materials are available as all happened in that epicenter. That's their backyard. But also there are people there relations there. So the growth plan is for us to build kind of source products in every vertical not simply for the lack of the oil for the earth. So the people who've been enjoying candidates for more than a couple of years that they have a choice in this election that something it's stop the best. Something that gives the best on all levels that's the taste. It's the innovation it's the control. You can't on about the BP relations or for a second it starts to matter is the temperature at which you heat something up delivers a different experience burning a 24 hour lighting something with fire you're burning all of it you're taking all the elements down. But when you warm it up gradually you can peel off that boils at a lower temperature for example your water boils at 212. Well THC begins to boil off at about 200 to about 350. But as you get above free 50 degrees Fahrenheit you start to step into the different cannabinoids. What's going to make you have the munchies or feel paranoid if you're asleep and you feel euphoria or analgesic. These are the cannabinoids talking. And as you raise the temperature you can extract the different cannabinoids off a little tiny to avoid carcinogens and benzene is the first carcinogen one actually enters the system about 385 degrees so that the true connoisseurs are wherever is bought in point and is extracting the cannabinoids I'm more of a dialogue level male LC that know what temperature they like I'll activate the 375 or lack of 390 and some of the younger guys that just go over the top of scale and at that point it's so warm that the extraction is pretty much the same as combustion.

Dan Humiston:
Wow. That's a huge education that we have not had in this show before. Thanks for that. OK. So funding this growth plan. I mean she's been in business for since 2010. You come in in ten years in business and you haven't raised any money as far as I know you don't have any partners what are your plans for growth is there opportunities for investments are there opportunities for partnerships or collaboration.

Cort Smith:
Yeah. Right now at the industry is on fire. A lot of really talented bright people are entering the scene. We know Oracle conferences design and manufacturing and we've built a really really good vaporizer. But we'd like to be looking for smart partnerships people who also have large vision. You know we want a large in the like minded people that have a passion for it for the industry. You see a bigger a big vision there is there is an opportunity to build more brand and more some products within which the lifestyle of the cannabis.

Dan Humiston:
Well we'll have all of cort's information on the MJBulls website so if there's somebody out there that wants to circle back with you and maybe brainstorm a little bit we'll have all that information caught you're welcoming any of those inquiries. I would assume yes. Yeah. Perfect. Well cort thanks for being on the show today. This is again it's great to have techs most interesting man in the world on my show.

Dan Humiston:
This is really cool. Thank you for the education and vaporizing. Like I said we've never had anybody on our show that really explained it like that so thank you.

Cort Smith:
My pleasure. And hopefully we'll get a chance to talk again if not maybe I don't know if you're going to get me on one of those bungee jumping things but maybe maybe maybe let's stay in touch.

Dan Humiston:
And good luck.
